At American Ballet School we believe that performance should be an integral part of dance training. Participation in performances is not required but it is encouraged. Lifetime memories are created while children learn valuable performance skills. We offer a variety of performance experiences for our students.
- A School wide "Nutcracker" during the Christmas season.
- An "Honors Recital" in late spring involving the most advanced students.
- A "Spring Recital" which features classics of Ballet & Jazz as well as original choreography involving all the students.
- Studio recitals for the Pre-School children, and others when schedules permit and dancers have work ready to share.
Our Nutcracker and the Spring Recital take place in the theater at the Fine Arts Center, Cary Academy, 1500 North Harrison Avenue in Cary. It is a relatively intimate, 500 seat theater that is right near by.

For those who are particularly interested in performance we offer a series of workshops which are performance oriented groups available by audition or by invitation of the Director.
Junior Workshop is open to students in the Recreational Program and Level I or II in the Ballet & Jazz Program.
Senior Workshop is open to students in the Ballet and Jazz Programs in levels III and IV.
Company open to students in the Ballet and Jazz Programs in levels VI and above.

Competition Dance Teams; There will be teams in Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Lyrical, based on interest. These teams will participate in rehearsal classes during the Fall and Winter in preparation for competitions in March. A fee will be charged for the classes. Expenses relative to the actual performance are unknown at this point but will be determined prior to the start of rehearsals in the Fall. There will be multiple teams.
